Over our three-decade history, Baywest has always been a company that supports and cares for Calgary and its people. As a home builder, our work is deeply connected to family and community, and to the city where we live, work and play.
In 2019, Baywest’s new ownership at Section23 Developments further enhanced our culture of giving. Section23’s founder, Robert Ollerenshaw, is a passionate community builder who is deeply committed to innovation, diversity, inclusion and multi-generational connection. His passions are the backbone of the value system that is the heart of our company’s philanthropic work.
Since the early 1900s, the Ollerenshaw family has played an active role in Alberta’s great agricultural community.
To honour our roots, Section23 is establishing the Ollerenshaw Heritage Ranch to preserve and redevelop the family’s historic ranch site in southeast Calgary. The Ranch will be an inviting place for the greater community to experience and enjoy as a centre for Alberta’s agricultural history, education, community gardens and other innovative multi-generational and philanthropic purposes.
Integral to the Ollerenshaw family legacy is a firm belief that we all benefit when we work together to improve the lives of our neighbours. At Baywest and Section23, we are proud to support local non-profit organizations including the United Way, University of Calgary School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape, cSPACE King Edward Arts Incubator, Calgary Dream Centre, Leighton Art Centre, Safe Haven Foundation, and Habitat for Humanity, among others.
Building Hope for Kids Gala in support of the Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation
Baywest is immensely proud to have co-produced an annual industry gala that has raised over $1,000,000 for the Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation. The funds raised make a difference for the many Alberta families who rely on the hospital for cutting-edge care every year.
Outside of the office, our team members are also excellent ambassadors for Baywest’s caring, community-building culture. We give our time to industry associations like BILD Calgary and BILD Alberta by volunteering on boards, committees and by supporting industry events. In all of our volunteer and philanthropic efforts, we believe that giving back moves us all forward.
