Scarlett sets the scene for entertaining in style

Visit the Scarlett, an estate show home by Baywest Homes, in the community of Harmony.

People who enjoy hosting get-togethers often put an emphasis on large, bright spaces that connect. This focus on ease of movement and sunshine are among the ingredients that make the Scarlett a prize. Measuring 3,238 square feet, this front-drive estate model is now displayed as a show home in Harmony.

The award-winning Harmony community, located west of Calgary limits, boasts several high-end amenities, such as a lake and golf course.

One of these connections meets the fresh air. Just off the grand, centrally located kitchen is a welcoming covered deck. Accessed through sliding glass doors, the 15-foot four-inch by 10-foot gathering space is an attractive destination for conversations with friends in warm weather. Despite being part of an open-concept design, the kitchen, flanked by a dining area and great room, all have design features that make them feel distinct and individually important.

The great room, for instance, boasts an open-to-above design. This soaring format is leveraged with windows covering the rear-facing wall. A benefit to doing this is it extends the visual of the great room, making it feel larger. The great room also features a box-shaped fireplace surrounded in tile. Further supporting the spread of light are glass railings on an adjacent staircase to the second level.

The dining area is also bright, with windows on three walls. It’s also equipped with a walk-up bar and cabinets with glass inserts.

While many kitchens have an island of some kind, this upscale cooking space has two islands. The one closest to the aforementioned covered deck makes sense for people to gather or sit and chat. In fact, in the show home, this island is staged as a dining table with three chairs on each side. The other island functions as a food preparation space. It includes a sink and stands beneath pendant lighting. The L-shaped kitchen boasts plenty of cabinet doors and drawers, along with both a butler’s pantry and conventional walk-in pantry.

Attached to the butler’s pantry is a mud room with a bench and coat hooks, organizers for footwear, and a set of cabinets. The cabinets will help families store items like tuques, scarves and mittens.

People who work remotely will find a quiet place to tuck away in the home office, located just off the foyer. It pulls in natural light through windows on two walls.

The second level is oriented with privacy in mind. There is substantial space between the master bedroom on one end and three secondary bedrooms on the other. These wings are divided by a central bonus room with a vaulted ceiling. Two of the secondary bedroom share a Jack-and-Jill style bathroom. This bathroom has vanity with two sinks beneath separate mirrors, making it easy for two children to get ready for their day at the same time. The largest secondary bedroom in the home reaches 12 feet two inches by 11 feet two inches. At 15 feet five inches by 14 feet, the master is expansive. French doors are used to access both the room, itself, and its ensuite. The ensuite also features a vanity with two sinks, along with a free-standing tub and a large, luxurious shower with full-height tile.

Displayed in the show home, the basement has a bedroom, bathroom, gym and rec room with a walk-up bar.
