The lake, the views, the light' all enhance lottery grand prize home

By: Andrea Cox at The Calgary Herald

The Foothills Hospital Home Lottery recently launched with the unveiling of its grand prize — a $3.3 million lakeside home in the award-winning community of Harmony in Rocky View County, designed and built by Baywest Homes.

With a stunning silhouette and brimming with luxury, this 4,859-square-foot walkout bungalow home features details that are extraordinary, from a private elevator to four outdoor terraces, all with lake views, as well as an oversized lot fronting onto Harmony Lake with its own private dock.

“We’re really excited about this home,” says Victoria Epp, show home project lead for Baywest Homes. “There are so many great design moments within the home.”

The home’s entire design revolves around capturing stunning views of the water and creating intimate, light-filled spaces.

“It’s a gorgeous lot, just huge and it’s on a corner in a cul-de-sac, right on the water, so first and foremost, we wanted to take advantage and maximize the opportunity to experience the surroundings of the home — the lake, the views, the light,” says Epp.

The modern prairie exterior hints at what’s to come in the interior spaces, which Epp defines as “transitional” styling, but with layers and layers of detailing, like fluted wall panelling, curved ceiling beams and sophisticated stone elements, along with massive windows.

“You really have to walk through the home a few times to appreciate the details. There are a lot of hidden gems,” says Epp, adding that the goal was to create a space that was timeless. “We used a neutral colour palette to allow the light to shine throughout the home.”

The main floor offers a private master retreat with its own private deck and a sumptuous wet-room clad in stone that features an open-shower and free-standing tub. The kitchen is an entertainer’s dream with an oversized island and elegant wood hood fan and porcelain backsplash detailing. The walnut stained rift oak cabinetry weaves a cosy esthetic, making the space feel grounded against a backdrop of glass windows. A butler’s pantry, powder room, mud room, dining room and great room finish off the main floor plan, but what really stands out is the covered outdoor three-season deck overlooking the lake.

The lower-level features a wine room, an entertainment lounge with access to the patio and lake, a guest wing with two-bedrooms and private deck, along with a wellness wing that contains a spa room and cedar sauna and an exercise room.

An upper-level 431-sq.-ft. bonus room with powder room completes the plan.

All of the levels are connected via a private elevator.

The home is a custom-design, but Epp says that Baywest will be incorporating many elements into future designs. “And, if someone walks through and loves it and wants to build it, that is also definitely an option,” she says.

This year’s lottery supports Interventional Radiology (IR), an innovative approach to care in support of patients experiencing a diverse range of illnesses, including cancer, arthritis and gallstones.

“The Body Interventional Radiology Hub at the Foothills Medical Centre will transform our ability to improve patient outcomes, deliver unparalleled care, and increase patient satisfaction,” says Murray Sigler, president and CEO of the Calgary Health Foundation, noting that the need to support healthcare through leading-edge breakthroughs and innovation is significant. “The impact of these investments is life-changing,” he says.

One lucky grand prize winner will walk away with the $3.3 million home, fully decorated, furnished and landscaped, along with $100,000 cash. In addition to the show home grand prize, more than 1,500 prizes will also be awarded from luxury vehicles to vacations.

There is an early bird prize — a luxury, full furnished two-bedroom, two-bathroom 1,200-sq.-ft. mountainside condo in the Canmore community of Spring Creek valued at $1 million. It is awarded with $25,000 cash.
For those who’d like to sneak a peek at Baywest’s Foothills Hospital Lottery show home, it is located at 29 Pike Bay in the community of Harmony and is open Wednesday through Friday from 2 to 7 p.m. and weekends and holidays from noon to 5 p.m. It is closed on Monday and Tuesday.

The early bird draw takes place on March 25. Ticket sales cut-off for the final draw is on midnight on April 4, with the final draw date on April 15.

Tickets are $100 each; three for $250; five for $375; or 10 for $700.
