Sage boasts striking primary bedroom with ensuite

The Sage, by Baywest Homes, is a 2,130-square-foot front-drive single-family model.

The primary bedroom should play multiple roles. It can make getting ready weekday mornings a positive experience, and provide an appealing place to decompress when the day’s done. Just as important is its ability to support and extend lazy Saturday mornings. Those functions are all available in the primary bedroom of the Sage by Baywest Homes. This is a 2,130-square-foot, front-drive, single-family now displayed as a show home in CreekView. Master-planned by WestCreek, this is a new community in southwest Calgary.

In the Sage, the primary bedroom is front-facing and reaches 18 feet by 13 feet, larger than what’s typically seen in this size of home. In this room, space comes through volume, as well. Its soaring vaulted ceiling elevates its visual interest and feeling of luxury. The ceiling pairs nicely with its large windows, helping spread natural light — a valuable contribution when stealing a few extra minutes of relaxation before starting one’s weekend.

The room also accounts for privacy. Bordering the bonus room, there’s an abbreviated hallway between the entrance of the primary bedroom and the sleep area, itself. This adds a buffer, something particularly useful if the children of the family get up early to watch TV or play video games in the bonus room while their parents sleep in. With this format, the volume from the TV is less likely to be a disruption. Down this short entryway, the ensuite is accessed along one wall and the walk-in closet is accessed from the other wall. The hero of this ensuite is its large and luxurious glass-encased shower with full-height tile. As seen in the show home, hooks for hanging robes next to the shower add to its spa-like atmosphere. A standalone tub beneath a window is on one side of the ensuite and vanity with two sinks is on the other. That tub is an appealing place to let the stresses of the office wash away. There’s a generous amount of space between the sinks, making it easy for the heads of the household to get ready for work at the same time.

In terms of the secondary bedrooms, they’re similar in size and positioned on the opposite end of the second level. Offering ease of access, a laundry room is located just outside the primary bedroom. It’s equipped with a front-load washer and dryer, surface area for folding and sorting, along with a sink.

On the main level, the back stretch is open-concept and bright. A dining area and great room line up along tall rear-facing windows. Sunshine from these windows pull into the centrally located kitchen, as well. The kitchen is L-shaped and headlined by an island with a sink and seating for three people. Its features include a stainless steel fridge with French doors and upscale hood fan. There’s a generous amount of storage space, including a walk-through pantry that reaches the mud room. This connection creates a quick and convenient path for hauling in groceries after a trip to the store. Rather than scratching the dinner table with the laptop and its cables, people who work remotely have an attractive spot of their own. Just off the foyer, there’s a six-foot 10-inch by eight-foot office.

The show home demonstrates the model’s developed basement. This includes a spacious rec area with walk-up bar, bedroom, and full bathroom.
