The Aurora is a 1,495-square-foot laned single-family model by Baywest Homes. It's available to tour in CreekView.
With most house hunters focusing on spaces such as the kitchen, great room and children’s bedrooms, the primary bedroom can get overlooked. This shouldn’t be the case. The heads of the household deserve an attractive, highly functional space of their own. Baywest Homes achieves this in the Aurora. This 1,495-square-foot laned single-family model is now displayed as a show home in CreekView. This new southwest Calgary community is positioned roughly 10 minutes south of the amenity-rich Shawnessy Village Shopping Centre.
The Aurora’s primary bedroom boasts large windows that overlook the front yard. At 12 feet six inches by 11 feet, the sleep space is well-sized. One of its high points is the walk-in closet. Relative to the bedroom, its dimensions exceed expectations. The closet can support and organize two wardrobes, and serve as a dressing room. If the primary bedroom is only occupied by one person, the walk-in can nicely divide a wardrobe by what’s in-season and what’s not. Its ensuite is eye-catching, as well. The star is an elegant shower with full-height tile and a glass door. Also important is the vanity with two sinks beneath a full-width mirror. There’s a thoughtful amount of space between the sinks. This lets both members of the couple perform their morning or nighttime routine at the same time without feeling crowded. It also gives each person sufficient space for keeping their respective hair and hygiene products, while avoiding clutter.
The two secondary bedrooms are side by side on the other end of the second floor. The larger of the two is nine feet 10 inches by nine feet.
An additional bedroom is available in the basement. The show home is demonstrated with a self-sufficient legal suite, which also includes a bathroom, kitchen, laundry area and living room. The kitchen is shown with stainless steel appliances, including an over-the-range microwave.
A legal suite is beneficial for a variety of reasons, including offset of mortgage payments with a rental tenant. This purpose is further supported with a side entrance, giving the suite’s occupants direct access to the stairs that reach it. The suite may also be used for relatives in a multi-generational household. As a result, there’s no need for the tenant to cross the main level — accessing the more personal ends of the home — to reach these stairs.
The main level, itself, is open-concept and full of sunshine. There are large windows in both the front-facing great room and the dining area at the back. The 12-foot six-inch by 14-foot great room is a warm and inviting space. It’s easy to imagine a couple using this space to relax with a glass of wine after a busy day at the office. Many families have people regularly in and out of the kitchen. With access points on two sides, this cooking space makes it easy for multiple people to circulate without crossing paths. Another feature encouraging gatherings is its island. This piece has an expansive surface area and includes seating for at least four people. Most islands have seating for two or three. The kitchen is equipped with appliances such as a fridge with french doors and bistro-inspired, chimney-style hoodfan. Behind it, there’s an elegant full-height tile backsplash.
